Ginkgo biloba ‘Pantaloons' was selected from a graft of Ginkgo biloba ‘Spring Grove #22' that was given to Charles Hunter in The United States of America by his friend Randy Dykstra circa 2006.
Description: This graft of Ginkgo biloba ‘Spring Grove #22 produces a wide variety of leaf shapes ranging from ligulate to lobed to entire to cleft to tube shaped; some being double tubes, Ginkgo biloba 'Pantaloons' is one interesting leaf shape it produced.
A scion of this plant was sent to us in 2020 by our good friend Mr. Charles Hunter. The plant seems to retain the unusual characteristics in the leaf. He said "It may be a bit premature to say with certainty, but it appears we may be able to contribute a few more notables from this side of the pond. I wish I could send more but I included a couple early experiments for you to try your luck with. 'Pantaloons' just appeared last summer. Every bud showed the trait but the one I chip budded pushed with growth that was not consistent".
On grafting this seems to be stable and is showing promise. But experience has taught us it is too early to say whether it will remain stable, we will keep this plant under observation.
