Ginkgo biloba ‘Mieszko I’ is an introduction from The Poznań University of Life Sciences, Poznań, Poland. There was a reference to it on the website of Coniferkingdom.com, in 2014. There is little information available about this cultivar. What we do know is that; Mieszko I was the first ruler of Poland and the founder of the first independent Polish state, Civitas Schinesghe aka the Duchy of Poland. His reign stretched from 960 to his death and he was a member of the Piast dynasty, a son of Siemomysł and a grandson of Lestek.
Description – Ginkgo biloba ‘Mieszko I’ , form the limited descriptions available; the foliage is striking; it is of average growth 30 cm – 60 cm a year. Its branches are very symmetrical and evenly distributed with a slight upward rise. It should grow on to have a conical shape and will exhibit good autumn colour.
