Ginkgo biloba ‘Magnifica’ is another recent introduction. About which little is currently known and what information is provided on the world wide web is conflicting, particularly in relation to the size of leaf. Some sites claim it has small leaves, others large leaves.
Heidi Dieck (one of the world’s most knowledgeable growers of Ginkgo )from Herrenkampner Garten describes this plant as ‘A particularly large-leaved selection, about which little is known’.
Description – Ginkgo biloba ‘Magnifica’ (The details are provided from observations of two plants in the National collection of Ginkgo biloba & Cultivars). The size of leaf is 13 cm across, the plant has an annual growth rate of 50 cm – 60 cm. The plant is expected to reach a height of 5-6m and perhaps a spread of 3m in 10 years or so .
