(Known in china as ‘Yu Hudie’) Ginkgo biloba 'Jade Butterflies' originates from New Zealand, introduced by The Nurserymen, Duncan and Davies, 90 Waitara Road, New Plymouth 4382, New Zealand. It was selected for its unusual 'Jade Green' foliage, which is said to resemble a butterfly flapping in the wind.

Description - Ginkgo biloba ‘Jade Butterflies’ is a male cultivar. The foliage is smaller than the species, usually a darker green, rounded lobes with a wide gap between them. This makes the leaves more  butterfly like. It is slow growing producing 15cm to 20cm of growth annually. Height in 10 years 1.5m, spread 1.5m Depending on how it is pruned it is suggested that it will develop into an upright small tree with a height of 5m, and spread of 3m making it ideal for the small garden. In the autumn it produces a spectacular display of vivid yellow.
