Ginkgo biloba 'Denise' was grown from a seedling in 2004 that originated from a tree that is only 50 cm wide after 30 years at a height of 8 m. It was selected by Frans van der Bom in Oudenbosch, province North Brabant, in the Netherlands and propagated in 2008 by Ad van Aart who named this variety after the finder's wife. This is a strong fastigiate tree, which makes a striking focal point.
Description - Ginkgo biloba ‘Denise’ grows very slowly. However, the leader my put on 30cm - 60cm (under nursery conditions) annually, the development of side shoots is significantly slower. The foliage is typical of the species. Expect it to grow to about 2.5m - 3m in 10 years. It has a narrow habit only 0.5 m reaching a height of 8 m after 30 years. It tuns a rich yellow in the autumn. To ensure that it maintains its shape and form, cut back any abnormal side branches during the dormant season.
